In 1849, the Hartford, Providence, and Fishkill railroad started carrying passengers and freight from Hartford to Willimantic. By the 1880s, this line had become part of the New York and New Haven railroad and continued providing service until the last train went through in the 1960s. After years of neglect and with the tracks long gone, it was reborn as the Hop River Rail Trail. Now you can follow the path of this historic line through gullies and stone cuts, over bridges and past fields and woodlands at the 10th annual Hop River 5K and 10K.
This year’s event will start and finish at the beautiful Bolton Heritage Farm, 266 Bolton Center Rd, Bolton, CT. The 10K will run through three towns; Bolton, Andover and Coventry.

What People are saying:
“I just did the Hop River 10K in Andover, and it was the best ever 10K I have done. It was beautiful, the weather was perfect and it was nice and shady with a nice breeze blowing. I will talk this up in my running club and hope to be back next year!”

Thanks for the suggestion. We’re hoping for a strong turnout as well. It is up on HiTek now.
This was my 25th race this year. The elevation profile notwithstanding, it was mostly slight grades or flat, with the very short hill at the turnaround. The best accollade a race can get is (I’ll be back next year!) I will!
