Rich Baber 

Rich Baber is an accomplished runner, having competed on the high school and collegiate level. As recreational runner, he has competed in countless community races of all distances, having qualified for the Boston Marathon 7 times.

Rich was one of the founders of the Shoreline Striders, an AAU affiliated running club, in 1972. In 2008, he founded the Glastonbury River Runners , a 501 (c) (3) non-profit running and fitness club affiliated with the RRCA.

He is currently the Head indoor Track and Field Coach and Assistant Outdoor Track and Field Coach at Windham High School, Willimantic, CT (2018 Class M State Champions)

After a career in project management and many years of community service  and serving on many Connecticut boards, Rich is now pursuing his life-long passion of running and fitness through The First Mile.

Beth Martin

Beth is a certified yoga instructor and has been running the roads and trails in New England for 20 years. She’s completed 9 marathons and countless triathlons and adventure races. Beth is excited to support runners in her position with First Mile LLC. She enjoys creating a supportive environment for runners to perform at their best.

Miguel Olmo

Miguel Olmo is part of our professional team here at First Mile Fitness LLC. He is an avid fan of sports, athletics, and fitness. When he is not on the course he serves as a Mental Health & Addictions Counselor for CHR in his hometown of Willimantic, CT., his clinical approach is influenced by a Person Centered integrated tactic focused around spiritual principles and the mind, body, and soul. “Healthy dieting and exercise is the key to longevity” is Miguel’s mantra and core belief in his clinical methods for serving his clients. You may see him performing various task ranging from assisting with course set up, working registration tables to event photography.

Kate Callahan

Kate Callahan has been a part of the Connecticut running community for nearly 20 years. She ran cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track at Windham High School She was an all-state cross country runner, placed first in the 3200 meter at the Eastern Connecticut Conference Outdoor Track Championship in 2003 and contributed to a ECC indoor track team championship in 2005. She ran her first New Haven Road Race at age 15 and first marathon at age 18. Kate is now a second grade teacher at Natchaug School in Willimantic and shares her love for running as the advisor for the school’s running club. Kate enjoys participating in local road and trail races, mountain biking, and yoga.

Thomas Martin

Thomas Martin has been an active part of the Connecticut running community for most of his life. He has been running, spectating, and volunteering at Connecticut road races since he was 9 years old. His favorite Connecticut running event to participate in is the Manchester Road Race. He has seen the sport of running progress and come into the digital age and is proud to continue to support the local running community by providing comprehensive timing services. Professionally, Thomas is a die-cut tooling designer and team leader in the packaging industry. In his free time, Thomas enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and practicing yoga.

Monica GuyMonica Guy

Monica is an experienced website designer and content/social media strategist. She has a master’s degree in Interactive Media.
